In particular, the following entities may apply for support under the Smart Growth Programme:

- consortia of enterprises and research units, business environment institutions.
Who are the projects for?
There are two ways to make use of support offered under the Smart Growth Programme – as project implementers or participants. The first category includes projects which primarily contribute to the development of entities that implement them. This concerns for instance enterprises, which enter new markets and improve their products through investments, development and implementation of innovative products and/or services or cooperation with R&D units.
The second category includes projects, whose implementers only act as contractors or intermediaries in providing specific solutions for selected target groups. One example could be projects executed by business environment institutions which provide free or partly financed advisory services or by entities implementing financial instruments and providing support in form of loans, guarantees or capital interventions. Such projects under the Smart Growth Programme are addressed in particular to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and start-ups.
